What sparked my interest in healing?

Looking back I can see that my interests over the years have given me a steady and sound foundation that has finally turned into a passion in assisting the healing of others.

The early stages of my personal growth were nurtured by reading many books and attending numerous workshops based on psychology and philosophy. I learnt so much not only about myself but also understanding people on a deeper intimate level that would normally only be possible through close relationships that take time to develop. Although the books taught so much they never had the same impact as the workshops that involved participation and interaction. The memorable and valuable experiences that derived from each of these workshops had a profound impact in one way or another on my life.

During 1994 I trained for six months with Life Line to become a counsellor and continued to counsel on a voluntary basis for a year. This was the first experience I had in assisting others.

In 1998 I attended one of the first Indian Head Massage courses available in Natal. I had a lot of pleasure in giving these massages. During some massage sessions it seemed as though I was experiencing sensations and emotions that I knew were not my own but those of my client. Through questioning my clients it was confirmed on numerous occasions that my intuition was indeed developing.

My daughter Karine asked me to take her to a network chiropractor. Not really sure of what this entailed she explained to me that a network chiropractor wouldn’t be manipulating the spine but would be working on blocked emotions that could possibly help with her scoliosis. Believe it or not I was sceptical!

This soon changed after reading “Heal Your Body” by Louise Hay. At the back of this book there is a detailed section on the effects of spinal misalignments. This includes the possible mental and physical illnesses that may cause irritation to the nervous system and how it affects the structures, organs and functions of the body. Everything that I read in the section of the spine where my daughter was affected gave an exact mental and physical cause and effect that related to my daughters condition. The metaphysical way to overcome the condition is to take on new thought patterns.  Impressed, I booked myself on a Louise Hay workshop!

Reading scientific books, written by physicists, relating to energy fields, quantum physics, and metaphysics helped me to understand the theory behind energy healing. To experience energy healing practically I booked sessions with various therapists and then it was as if lightening struck and I knew this is what I wanted to study.

I completed my internship and advanced studies by the end of 2003 in two types of healing modalities. The first was with highly esteemed Spiritual healer and teacher Jan de Vries, from Durban. The second was with Jeff Levin, who developed The Life Alignment Technique. Jeff has recently been awarded an honorary Doctorate in Natural Medicine in recognition of his work over the past 30 years, particularly with Body Alignment.

During 2004 I attended the first workshop in South Africa of Dr Barbara Anne Brennon. Dr Brennon, previously a research scientist for NASA at the Goddard space centre, is now a world renowned healer and teacher.

I realize that there are many others out there that find natural healing as fascinating as I do. Body Spin is entry level into Life Alignment and anyone can learn this simple easy to learn technique.
